Reducing pain and discomfort and supporting your caesarean recovery
Caesarean or C-Section Scar Massage therapy is a gentle way to support your healing and recovery after surgery.
Why have Scar Massage Therapy for my Caesarean?
Relief from pain and discomfort
It is very common for clients to feel pain, itching or reduced sensation in areas close to the scar. Scar massage helps reduce this discomfort and can alleviate the pain ensuring you are more comfortable.
Promoting healthy scar tissue formation and supporting the healing process
During the healing process following your caesarean, the scar tissue can become tight and this can lead to reduced mobility. Scar massage can soften the area, reduce swelling and encourage the healing process.
Emotional wellbeing and connection with your body
Scar massage is a wonderful way to support you both physically and emotionally. Your overall wellbeing is so important to your recovery and these treatments encourage you to reconnect with your body again and also allow you to feel more comfortable with touching your scar and surrounding area.
What does the Scar Therapy Treatment involve?
You will be offered gentle massage on your scar, around the scar, on your abdomen and any other areas that may be linked to your discomfort such as your hips. The treatment will also involve gentle guided exercises and various techniques to support the healing process. I will also be able to show you how to massage your scar when you are at home.
I have been trained in the Restore Scar Therapy method and treat all my clients with a holistic approach to support healing and recovery.
The first appointment is a 60 minute Initial Consultation and Treatment. Appointments after this are 50 minute Follow Up Treatments.
I would suggest a course of 3 - 6 treatments to get the most out of the sessions. However everyone is different, and you may feel a big enough impact after one session and want to continue your scar massage at home.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
You can come for scar therapy treatment 8 weeks after surgery. During this early stage, you may feel you do not have any of the above symptoms listed, but as the tissue heals you can find months later that you start to see the effects. I would suggest booking an appointment early on, as the sooner you can start a treatment the quicker it can support your healing and overall recovery.
If you had a caesarean many years ago, scar therapy treatment can still support you. It’s never too late to make a difference!
“A wonderful c-section massage. I felt really well taken care of and Sophie listened to my concerns and genuinely cared about improving the appearance of my c section scar. Amazingly, I saw results after only 1 session.”
Sue
“I was so happy to find Sophie! I booked a series of Sophie’s c-section Scar Therapy massage treatments to try and help improve the look and feel of my scar. Sophie is so mindful of the impact a scar can have on how you feel and she immediately put me at ease. The treatment is very gentle and targeted! I’ve already seen an improvement in sensation and movement even though it was over a year after my c-section when I started.”
Claire
“After visiting Sophie my scar feels less tight, she also showed me a few gentle massages and stretches to use at home to continue regaining strength and feeling back in the area.”
